At the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Yeraly Tugzhanov held a meeting with Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate.

During the meeting, the sides noted that the foundation of the successful alliance between Astana and Tashkent is the trusting dialogue between the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The importance of the Treaty on Allied Relations as a significant milestone in the development of cooperation between the two fraternal peoples was emphasized.

The Ambassador briefed the Uzbek side on the entry into force of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution on 1 July 2026 and the upcoming first elections to the Kurultai, scheduled for 23 August.

Particular attention was paid to intensifying interparliamentary dialogue, including mutual visits by parliamentary delegations and the exchange of experience in legislative activities. The sides confirmed their intention to promote projects in the fields of culture, education and support for gender equality in Central Asia.

The importance of expanding ties between the border regions of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was noted, including the significance of the Council of Heads of Regions as a new strategic platform for strengthening interregional cooperation. It was emphasized that the first meeting of the Council, held on 23–24 July this year in Aktau on the sidelines of a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, gave additional impetus to cooperation between the regions.

Yeraly Tugzhanov highly appreciated the personal contribution of Tanzila Narbayeva to strengthening friendship, good-neighborliness and interparliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis expressed readiness to further expand interparliamentary ties and support democratic processes in the region.
